I just noticed that there's a floating route behind the bridge.
Still a great price, but that kinda ruins it for me. :(

I'm pretty sure you'll see purple as well as all of the other colors they had offered on the original MM1. There is currently (1) amber and (1) sunburst model on eBay for $259. (bin). I'm sure you'll see many more as they have just been shipped to their distributors this past week. Even though I'm not a fan of recessed Floyds, I can't think of a better deal on a Floyd equiped guitar in that price range.

Does OLP do a JP 7 string official copy? If they do I would jump on it! I have a great idea...a 7 string Sub 1...we can call it a Sub 7...

Per OLP, the Floyd model will be available in amber, sunburst, and black.

I pulled the trigger on the sunburst on ebay. I'll post a review when I get it.

WoW, I'm really surprised.
Wouldn't it have been more cost effective to simply upgrade the existing MM1's with a flush mount Floyd and locking nut?

I haven't seen this model in black, but the amber and sunburst look pretty nice.
Please do post a review when you get yours. :)

I understand why EBMM fans would like the looks of the OLP's. They look just like the originals. But they feel and play virtually nothing like the originals. The necks aren't even close to the specs of the Music Man guitars they emulate.

They are a decent value but there are a lot of guitars in this category out there. Could someone explain to me why, if I love my EVH (which I do) would I find an OLP more attractive to play than any other budget model?

I'm not coming down on anyone. I just feel like I must be missing something.

I think you answered your own question. :)

And true, the necks are completely different, but I do like the feel of the bare wood and you have to admit for a $200-$250 guitar, it doesn't feel all that bad. Besides, the shorter overall scale of the guitar is more comfortable for me.
Yes, I would immediately do upgrades to the pickups and bridge (if it was not a Floyd model), but the same would go for any other guitar in that price range as well.

With the new addition of the Floyd Rose trem, I believe it's a very good deal for someone just starting out, or someone just looking for a "beater". ;)

I just wish the Floyd wasn't recessed. :(

Actually in the long run it is cheaper to recess the Floyd.

A flush-mount Floyd would have required a different neck angle than the vintage trem model. So either a different angle in the neck pocket, or shims in the pocket.

The only problem I see with them is that the Floyd copy is a string through version, so you couldn't plunk the ole D-Tuner on one. Other than that I'm sold. I'm getting one.

I don't have the Floyd Rose version, but just fot the record I love my OLP. It's not my main guitar, but it's fun to play and sounds good with a cranking amp!
