Yesterday I went to a very well known music retailer in the UK to try an amp.
The guy there asked me which bass do I use and I told him, SR, rosewood, 2eq.
'Of course' the only SR he had was one with piezo(quite rare I agree, but true!). He then said: This is a piezo! it is different than the one you have! And when I told him that I might as well turn the piezo off and the mid boost he told me something I couldn't believe. I thought my ears were not working properly:

''What? Turn it off? And if you do that then how can we turn it on again? Are you going to disconnect it?' It is an expensive instrument you know...''

OK Mantaray. Spill the beans. Which store so I can avoid it?

I'll give you a clue:

It is in the main shopping street of London named after the University town, and under a music superstore whose name has sth to do with people that never had sex in their lives.

Thanks Mantaray

Actually that doesn't surprise me. I go in there to have a browse when I'm up in London and I am totally unimpressed by their attitude. Every time I go they have no Bongos.

Men of Britain,

I am finding it increasingly harder to find anywhere in town that gives good service. The Bass centre isn't the same any more since it moved from Wapping High St to the a*se end of nowhere behind Liverpool St.

Being left handed it has never been easy finding left hand examples of anything decent. I had to drive out to Hitchin in Herts to try out and buy my Ray.

Thank God for the internet, the modern way to shop around and get advise!

I agree with you Liam! The Cellar is out of the question, and the bass centre is much smaller than it used to be. Also I don't like their collection. My favourite at the moment is The Bass Gallery at Camden Town. The guy there is fantastic, very helpful, he really wants you to get the best deal and leave the store satisfied and can discuss a lot about several things. Definitely a pro Shop! Only a bit cramped though.
And when it comes in mentioning monthly payments, the rest of the music stores(bass centre, cellar etc), they just don't want to hear about them. Especially in one situation I was about to ask the salesman if he really believed that a part of his salary would be deducted from me getting a monthly payment scheme. Period!
