So I will be heading off to college in NY soon, but since I can't bring both my basses I have to pick one!

So now I feel comfortable playing with both and I love both of them equally... What would you pick between these two if you had to pick one?

The MMSR 30th Anniversary?

or the MMSR5 20th Anniversary HH?

That's a tough one, i have exactly the same basses and would be puzzled too. But I'd pick the 30th or alternatively go and buy a new bass they're comparatively cheaper :)

Well I'm checking it in as a luggage and thanks to my student ticket I can get it on board for free! Plus getting a new bass (even tho I'm really digging that big al)... Well I have no money!

If you're planing to play gigs and sessions there i'd say take the SR5 HH for maximum versatility.

If it's just for you playing and practising in your room i'd say the SR4 H. For sweet simplicity...

I say the SR5, if you can only take one I say take the fiver. It is always easier for me to play a four after playing a five, but when I play a four for a long time and then play a five it feels a little awkward. But that may just be me. Plus the five is more versatile if you want to be able to play any genre.

I agree with Basscake's reasons. If you are gigging take the 5 otherwise the 30th.

I wouldn't take any of those with me.... I'd gotten a beat up 'Ray and take that with you

+1

or get an EBSMM Ray34 or Ray35. The two Rays you mentioned are specialties; may not want to risk them till you are familiar with what will be taking place.
