Hi all. Since i have respect for my fellow Ballers.....
I just got my hands on a JCM800/2203 with cab.
The cab has the 75 watts in there and i have heard so much ranting and raving about the Greeners and/or the Vintage 30's

Any opinion and/or experiences:confused:

I use the V 30's in my cabs and everytime I try a non V 30 speaker in an amp at the store I am dissapointed. They work great for me and it is what I like to play through.

I just put two Vintage 30s in my 5150 combo, and the improvement is incredible. I prefer them over the greenback, but that is just my personal opinion.

I love the V30's, but about a year ago I put a v30 and an eminence v12 in a 212 cab and the sound is bright and bassy at once, my point is you should try mixing, possibly the two, call dave at avatar speaker cabs and he can not only give you some advice but he will sell you either of those speakers way cheaper than you will find them anywhere else -

It realli is a matter of personal taste. Some people, including myself, quite like the G12-75ts you have in you amp at the moment.
They are all Eqd differently, and you have to decide what suits you.
The vintage 30s are extremely loud, and have an upper-mid peak which means they cut through very well live. I personally dont like the upper-mid peak, as i feel they sound slightly harsh, especially on cleans (this is a peronal opinion!).
The Greenbacks are not nearly as powerful, and break up much easier. They have a woodier and slightly warmer tone
An excellent compromise between the two are the G12H speakers, which have the power of the Vintage 30s and not the upper mid peak, and are a bit richer and warmer (more low-mids)- very 70s.
THe G1275s which you have have a much less pronouned midrange than the others.

An increasingly popular thing to do, which when i have heard it works really well, is to change two of the 4 speakers in a 4x12, in a diagonal pattern (ie speaker type 1 in bottom left and top right position, and speaker type 2 in the bottom right and top left).
Ao if you kept two G1275s and changed 2 others to either Vintage 30s or G12Hs depending on taste, you would get a huge sound with excellent balance across frequencies.
If you havent already, go to www.professional.celestion.com and listen to the samples. They are not great, but give some idea.

If I wrong then someone please correct me but I believe the V30's are now being made in China. From what I've been told the older ones made in England are far better. Just something to consider if you are looking to buy.

I really like the G75-Ts as well. I use a couple of cabs running in "stereo" lately; a Yorkville 2x12" with G75-Ts and a Mesa with V30s - I keep them stacked or to either side of my rack rather than spreading them across the stage and they seem to really complement each other well. But we've experimented with the SM57 and prefer close mic'ing one of the G75s to run to the board...

dont rule out the eminence line as well, the eminence v 12 is a great speaker for half the money, like I said call dave at avatar cabs and ask away, the guy is a speaker guru -
