Personally my Fav Toto albums, are Kingdom Of Desire. Tambu, Mindfields and Falling In Between.

Not to say the other Toto albums aren't great, they are fantastic, but KOD and Tambu was in my teenage years and brings back a lot of fond memories for me. I'd say check out KOD and Tambu to start of with, maybe get Mindfields as well, that album doesn't get much love, but it's brilliant, fantastic songs, brilliant arrangement, this album is like "BANG Bobby's back" and it's a real kick in the face, and shows how strong a vocalist he is.

Cheers,

Scott.

Can some Toto freak give me the low down on who they are, and some good albums to get?

Probably the best AOR Band in the world and ALWAYS a great live band.
Get ALL their albums, they're all pretty unique, because Toto are so versatile.

I want to discover something new, and I hear Lukather is amazing.
I saw Lucious in concert for the first time back in 1985 on the Fahrenheit-Tour and that night just totally changed my life guitar-wise!
I knew he was good , because I had listened to the 'Rosanna' middle solo and the 'Lovers in the night' outro solo (both from their TOTO IV album), but I had never seen him live in concert.

Lucious had everything that I admire in a great player: taste, tone, technique, a great sense for melody, flashy licks and he could really kick some ass!

He was one of major influences, because of him I kind of broadened my musical horizon.

So go ahead, get those albums and Live DVDs, you won't be dissappointed! There's so much to learn!!!

Hey...my top 4 too!! I probably listen to Tambu and Falling in Between most (very different albums but both great), but KOD and Mindfields get hammered a lot too. Occasionally I break out Toto (I), Hydra and Turn Back...because those were what I was listening to in my teenage years!

Pittman75, I'd highly recommend you get the Live in Amsterdam DVD. You get to hear a "History of Toto" and some kick-a$$ playing...and you get to see that these guys have a lot of fun on stage and don't take themselves too seriously.

Never enough Toto!

Kingdom of Desire is my favorite Toto CD. Great tone and I believe Luke did all or most of the lead vocals.

The very first riff that I ever figured out myself on guitar (the first day that I had my very first guitar - a freaking Kramer Aerostar) was the opening riff to I'll Supply The Love.

I have to say that the best way to get in to Toto is to hear one of their Live recordings.

There have been a few, in order....Absolutely Live.....Livefields....Live in Amsterdam....finally....Falling in Between Live.

The last one was released afew weeks ago, and should be easy to find.

I think Toto songs often sound better played live. The Albums are great, but it's only seeing them play the material live do you realise how good they actually are.

Most of the second CD for Falling in Between Live is a huge montage of material right through their career. This would be a great place to start!!

A clip from the Live in Amserdam DVD (also on CD).

Posted here a dozen times, and when I get bored of it I'll stop. But not yet.
