If you want something done right you have to do it your self. Tell you what, I'll hold their head down so you can kick it.

Enough fun

I wonder if Google has thought about developing an operating system and then giving it away to anyone for free.

Wouldn't that be a well deserved kick in the head.;)
Part of the bad rap MS has always gotten is HW dependance (one of the things Apple didn't have to worry about). All the open source OSes have just as many issues on that front. Google or anyone else is welcome to try and support a zillion different kinds of video cards, networking cards, etc. Good luck.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the head if Apple gave away their OS, even if it was crippled. Get a lot more Windows converts that way.

I think that MAc's are great and I do understand the comparision to us.

Apple and EBMM also remind me of Honda Motors... I feel like I could buy a Civic and be happy forever. Their stuff just works. Bare bones and simple yet innovative, well-designed, typically runs forever with few problems.

Another reason too is all three of these companies have good fan bases for good information and support from other enthusiasts. A top reason I like EBMM now.

OSes and anything work related ill gladly buy. its the "core" of my system and i want it to be legit. os x is only $129 and comes in 1 flavor unlike windows which comes in many "editions". given the fact that a new for-pay upgrade comes every 18 months or so i dont mind the price at all especially since their other software, like iWork, is SOOOOO cheap compared to the MS office suit.

some of the Linux stuff is free - sure, but in the past some simple things (installing real player or flash etc) have really made me spend way too much time trying to get things figured out. ya, things are way better now - but even if 1 head scratcher occur a month that's easily worth the $120 price of os x to me.

On the cost front, the lower cost of Apple SW is offset by the higher hardware cost. You may pay more for Windows & Office, but add up the cost including machine and it's usually less.

Ya, I'm with you on the zillion editions, that is a terrible marketing decision to have all those options.

I'm happy to pay for what I need too- life's too short to screw around fixing things (which I spend way too much time doing, on every platform we use including Mac).

I'd love to go Mac ----but I'm so heavily invested in Sonar and related software/VI's/plugs on the Windows side it just not in the cards right now. Love to have a Mac and a ProTools LE dealio in addition to my current rig. Best of both worlds. BTW Sonar7 kicks *ss!!

macs dont cost all that much. a macbook is $1099. thats a decent price for good laptop. the mini is also pretty cheap @ 599. toss in some 3rd party RAM for $100 and youre all set. but, ya, u can get a dell laptop for ~$500.

Maybe EBMM should do some of those switching commercials with those 2 guys from the apple ads - that would be cool! :D

"Let me get this straight, on your "custom shop" guitar you have to take the neck off of it to adjust the truss rod?!?!?!!"

hehhehee.......

Aren't those commercials great??? I love 'em. Oh, and don't get me started on taking necks off guitars. I've said before, that is a design that should have died with its designer. Sheesh.

I wonder if Apple can blacklist it/stop it? Hate to go through all that and get zapped.
