Hey Guys:

After purchasing my ball, I have been inspired to utilize everything on it. I have been inspired to consolidate my old gear and clean up what I have.

Here is my current set up:

EBMM Petrucci

into: WD7 Weeping Demon wah>

Mesa/Boogie Triaxis 2.0 (effects loop send)>
G Major (out to) Boss GE-7 Equalizer
into: triaxis effects loop return

Triaxis output 1 to Input 1 on 2:90 Power Amp
Triaxis output 2 to Input 2 on 2:90 Power Amp

Now my question(s):

I have a Marshall 1960 4x12. How do I run both outputs on the 2:90 to the 1960?
I'm afraid I'll blow the power amp because I've never done that before. Plus, here is my noobish question: what are the differences in Ohms? How do I know how which to plug it into? Ex. I have two 4 Ohm outs and 1 8 ohm out on the 2:90 amp. Which do I use?

Perhaps this could help:

With that cab you get the entire thing in 4 Ohms (left input, mono) or 16 Ohms (right input, mono).

For stereo (flip the switch), you'll be running each side at 8 Ohms. Each 8 Ohm side then has an independent input, left and right.

Thanks beej! I tried it out, but I think there is something wrong with the power amp. When I turn up the B Channel on the 2:90, it cuts in and out. If I hold the volume pot I get this nasty distorted buzzy noise. I got it used, but I'm no electrician, and I'm not touching it. Sounds like it needs a new pot.

Also, the piezo sounds very glassy and fragile through the Triaxis. I didn't have this problem with other amps. It must be the settings. Anyone use the piezo through this preamp...or am I not supposed to even use it through a preamp? I played it through a Line 6 Spider III combo and it sounded fine through that at GC. When I play it direct through the power amp, it sounds just O.K. but has no real umph to it. Anyone??

I would recommend you run the piezo through a dedicated acoustic amp - you will be amazed what a difference that will make to your piezo sound.

I wish EB would make an amp like the AER?

get a splitter and send the piezo straight to the P.A. Sending it into an electric guitar amp is missing out on the tone you should be getting.

Yeah, could well be the pot. You could also try swapping tubes between the channels to see if that's it- if you just bought it you may well have a bad tube. But yeah ... take 'er to a tech to have a look-see.

As for the piezo, you might be able to coax some good sounds through that rig; I suspect it'll just take a while to tweak it to your liking. But it will definitely sound better through a full range rig.
