From now on there will never be any hesitation if someone asks me 'what is the craziest bass you own' - as of yesterday I am now the proud owner of this bizarre beast!

A 3 String EBMM Stingray - made by Music Man for Jason Newstead and inspired by Tony Levin's 3 String (which was destroyed in a fire, sadly) - this is apparently #002 (though it doesn't have a serial number), so I assume Tony's was 001? I would love to know if there are any others! I reached out to EBMM customer service today to ask!

I will be recording a video soon to demonstrate this oddball (any requests?!)

I am also in the market for some 'funk fingers' so I can cover 'Big Time' - so any leads would be appreciated!

In the meantime - feast your eyes on this

How is that Bass supposed to be tuned?
Somehow the bass is messing with my brain cause i can‘t believe it only has 3 strings lol
Seems like one of those optical illusion pictures

It’s tuned EAD! I totally agree re: the optical illusion thing - especially that 6 pole pickup!

Damn! I'd have bought that too, even just for the novelty. I wasn't aware of Tony Levin's history with it; he's my favorite bassist.

I'm personally a fan of five string guitars as well (not basses, but normal guitars), but they're damn rare too. Apparently some DB filed a patent for five string guitars, scaring many manufacturers away.
