Friday night saw me and a good mate head to the "Robin2" venue to see our guru and mentor Steve Lukather on his Ever Changing Times tour.
Great little venue, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but just the right size to see everything, and big enough to get a good atmosphere.
And well, what can I say? A great gig, Luke and the boys absolutley played their arses off for 2 1/2 hours. Highlights were "Tell you what you want from me" and "Stab in the Back" (which turned into a jam session!) from the new album, "Live for today" from Turnback, "Party in Simons Pants" and a great closer "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" Really!!
Lots of Balls on display, the Koa Luke sounded great, really cut through, Ricky Z broke out an AL BFR and Carlitos gave the 25th an airing.
After the set, afew dozen people hung around and had a beer, then the band came out and had a drink whilst Luke did some meet and greets. It was the first time I'd met him in person, having followed him for over 20 years, and it was a thrill to meet one of your guitar heroes. It was an honour!!
So a great night. If you're not into Luke I can only urge you to buy the new CD and check him out live. Awesome.
Here are some pics courtesy of my mate Nick - the first one will only make sense if you were there!
