Short story. Bought a Trans Red Stingray, couple days later traded a 62 RI and a 72 refin Jazz for a USA Lakland JO. All while having no job. Panic sets in and I sell the Stingray. Several days later I find a job.
While waiting for the JO to arrive and the deal to finish on the Stingray sale, I play the Stingray at a couple of jobs and realize how much I liked it. So I send the MM to a great guy hoping he hates it and might sell it back.......not. Hey Mikey...he likes it! (old commercial reference)
So here I am with the killer USA JO and a void where the Stingray was. Haven't rec'd my first pay from the new job and my finger is twitchin on the trigger.
What did I learn from this? I think the Stingray is as sweet a bass as I'd hoped it would be. It took a little bit for me to find the 3 band EQ settings that worked for me on the MM but once I did it was nice. Now will I find another that I like as well as the first one? It's always something.
Are Stingrays all over the board or is there some consistency in tone and feel?
