Its nice to know that my old bass is in good hands. May it enjoy its stay at Camp Bovine, however long that may be, next to Heinz the Wonder bass, and the rest of the Bongo clan. Its cool that shes now owned by perhaps the most famous* MusicMan player alive.

Kind of scary, thinking that I'm famous in any "internet" sort of way!

Nonetheless, this is a really nice bass. I re-strung it with TI Flats and was playing along with Alison Krauss today - very nice.

And I was using it the other night at rehearsal and completely forgot that I was even playing bass, if you know what I mean.

If you don't, I mean that I was listening to the overall mix and working on some harmonies and thinking about life, the universe and whatever, and was able to disassociate myself from what I was doing on bass, and that, I think, is the ultimate test of whether you got a good bass or not.

It was just playing itself, as far as I could tell.

And that is good.

Oh yeah Jack. When the bass becomes such a part of you that you forget that youre playing it, and it just flows as it were playing itself. Thats what its about.

+1 on the Allison Krauss. She has some pipes. Union Station aint too shabby either.
