True, but looks aren't everything.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about an OLP Bongo.

Just remember that you and I are old geezers with disposable income. We've gone though quite a few instruments to get where we are now (wherever that may be).

Now think back to what was available - entry level instruments - when we were young bucks. I had some pretty crappy cheapo basses.

I'm glad that beginnners (and some non-beginners, really) have choices like the OLP. I wish I'd had those basses when I was 12 or 13!

Good point.
I started out with cheap Yamaha bass a couple years ago because I was not sure how long I would play bass since I was a guitar player filling in for vacant bass player's spot and I played bass better than previous bass player the band never looked for another bass player. I would definitely chose these OLP instead of Yamaha.

well, if they just had put better hardware on it... the tuners are rattling, the pots doesnt feel good, wiggling a bit sideways even though they are properly fastened. the bridge is ok, havent removed it to feel the weight, so i cant really tell. the topnut was made of so hard plastic it had cracked, so i put on a replacement of bone. plays nice, and got that oomph i like :D

imo it beats the crap out of any other bass in the same price range!

hehe.. after seeing what lord bongo gets from dubaldo, im more instrument sick than ever.. :giggle

kennetb: you gots a pm ;)
