Wow I should read more carefully, I thought he was talking about the neck, not fingerboard. I'd use some lemon oil then, thats just my two cents.

Aren't the EB neck dipped in oil at the factory. I can't see any reason why a maple fingerboard should not be oiled. It is exposed to the same elements as the rest of the neck, and the oil is applied to protect against those elements. Someone please provide a more scientific discussion of this :)

mineral oil enema

The best oil for a plain/unsealed rosewood fretboard is plain mineral oil. The best, easiest and cheapest way to get pure mineral oil is at any pharmacy. Simply buy a mineral oil enema. Sounds strange but a mineral oil enema is 99.99% mineral oil. It enough to last the life of the guitar for a couple dollars, and you don't have to search the country for it either.

FAQ Upadate:

How do I maintain my fingerboard?
Give it an oil enema! :D

Maybe EBMM should start selling Wonder Wipes in the laxative section of the pharmacies!

maple boards

There is a product I think called 'Fretboard Doctor" which I have read is very good on unfinished maple or rosewood boards (as well as other unfinished woods) I myself have only used the WW on my maple board and have no concerns.

I got a tip from an old cabinet maker a long time ago.
Cut a brazil nut in half and rub it on and wipe off and buff up.
I have used this on rosewood necks for 30 years and works a treat. This also works on furniture and gun stocks.
It can go milky and sticky if you haven,t buffed as much as you can off with a lint free cloth.
