I know you think i am probably nuts by now. But it takes time sometimes to get used to an axe.

After properly setting up my Axis and putting 9's on it, i am starting to not be able to put it down.
It still needs a pro job on the nut but is alot more where i want it. I got some pro stainless steel shims for the nut and put those on, but it still needs a bit of tweaking. The nut plateau is not totally level for some reason and leaves a bit of a gap on the side closest to the tuners. So that is why it still pulls back a bit and leaves a small gap between the nut and fretboard. I fixed it alot but i will take it to my tech that kicks ass and he will level it perfect and fix it.

I was also thinking of getting him to do a pro shim on it ( angled piece of wood to make near 100% contact, but i dont think that will do too much for the sustain or tone. Besides i want a bit of leeway to play with the action by being able to shim it a bit.

So i was playing some ZZTOP and it was getting that awesome Les Paul vibe but with more of a super strat tone as well. Real organic sounding. I guess i was too used to playing harsher/brighter sounding instruments which at low volume sound good but get harsh louder.
The Axis gets awesome Les Paul sounds with the addition of not being muddy.

The biggest addiction of the guitar is that confounded neck! Once you start getting used to it, it is hard to play anything else.

good stuff!

I took a little time with the Axis as well... it still not as versatile as the Luke... but thats fine as it can do stuff the Luke can't... it a different guitar and I think it is the perfect Rock instrument... I love it now...

I wish the Axis neck was also an option on a Luke or Silhouette as well. The Luke neck is real nice as well, but going back to the Axis neck is awesome.

I just might have to get a Luke as well. I really liked the one i played the other day.

The Axis has the same neck as the Silo just two less frets...unless it's a Silo Special then it's the same;)

The neck profile on the Axis and Silo are different.
The Silo is a rounded C and the Axis has a beefier assymetrical D profile !

i can swear that everyday i play the Axis the tone gets harmonically richer. The guy who had it before didnt play it at all. Its like breaking the guitar in from scratch.

I strapped it up for the first time today and had more fun playing than i have in years! It is a real well balanced guitar when standing as well. And i thought that the lack of forearm contour would make it tough. But it sat nicely on me and im a big guy at 6'2". I must say the asymmetrical neck feels the best standing up. that is, there is where i see the most comfort.

I had great fun. The sound was inspiring to say the least.
