Well now you've got the full set of models -

you'll have to get each in a full set of colours.

Gotta keep the factory busy. :)

Okay, Jack...

Now you've got to tell us if you agree with Dargin and Big Poppa about that lone 'bucker. Do you like the tone and placement of it better than the 'bucker on the other two models?

Can't say just yet as it doesn't have "my" strings on it yet. I played it for about an hour last night and even with roundwounds it was rockin' pretty good.

Let me get the strings changed and tweak the setup a little bit and I'll try to formulate a comparison.

The Desert Gold on this one is different than the DG on the four banger - definitely more orange.

I think youre going to enjoy it Jack. If I didnt like my new StingRay 5 so much, I might miss that bass.

So are you saying you dont like my setup?? My action is somtimes too low for some. When I shipped the bass the action was low, I mean low.

Yeah, you ain't kidding about THAT! Now, with the relatively high tension strings on there (are those Super Slinkys?), it plays just fine with the action that low. Once I get the TI rubber bands on there, we'll have to raise the saddles a bit.

I imagine that I play a bit harder than you, too, if you can deal with action that low. My touch is not what I would call "light", heh heh, so I get buzz where you might not.

No probs, I think I remember how to adjust these doo-hickeys.

They are actually regular old Slinkys Jack. I really dropped my action that low to give myself some insentive to play with a lighter touch and better dynamics, instead of my usual dig in hard every note style.

Sterling:

Strings? I ALWAYS NEED STRINGS. You can see why. So if you have any of those throwback, caveman EB Flats around, well, the staff here at Camp Bovine Bongo Repository stands ready to install!

I am having a martini as we speak, sir. I have recommended this vodka to Dargin, and I will also recommend it to you - Ciroc. It's made in France (nothing's perfect except Heinz the Wonder Bass*) from GRAPES. Yes, snap-frost grapes, whatever the hell those are. You know that slight yet overt rubbing alcohol taste that nearly every vodka has?

This one has none. It's so CLEAN. Anyway.

I'm hoping to love the 1 Hummer Bongo nearly as much as I love my original (and still king of the hill) Black Sapphire double hummer. That bass never fails to make me smile when I plug it in. Hell, I play ROCKABILLY with the thing! Gets a few weird looks but that's okay - I myself look weird, so there's that.

I have heard that you are once again hanging/playing with some fellow luminaries. Call me when you need a bass tech. (Jon's nice, but I suck up with slightly more enthusiasm.)

*Oh yes, Heinz the Wonder Bass?

The world's finest oddly colored Stingray 5, owned by me since 1999 except for a little mistaken vacation Heinz took last year.
