Ten minutes and no tone he liked?

Crap, I just plug mine in and it sounds good. I only fiddle with the EQ to make it sound better.

Exactly. That's why I didn't really bother.

That's pretty strange. I mean I killed myself to work and get it, and when I got it I decided it wasn't for me, but I still correct my friends any time they thing I overspent or wasted any money. The Bongo is an amazing bass, regardless of whether or not it's for everybody.

I just find it hard to believe that you can't find one tone you like.

I mean, you might not find five you like, but with 4 bands to play with and 2 pickups--you can't even find one? I can understand not liking the looks, and that being a deal-breaker for some. I can understand preferring a 35" scale for a B string (although, I think that's a load a carp, too). I can understand the spacing, or neck profile not to be to your liking. But, don't tell me you couldn't find any usable tone in 10 minutes with a Bongo. I'm sorry, but your ears aren't good enough to hear the kind of nuance you'd need to hear to be that subjective.

And, the guy couldn't even get it to sound like a Stingray? Please...

As for the fit and finish, does he think it's different people, or CNC machines with different tolerances cutting the bodies out and putting them together than the Stingrays, etc?

I don't mean to be rude, but it pains me to see a bass maligned by the uninformed, or inexperienced.

Im gonna be honest. If you cant find ONE good tone in a Bongo you need to blame yourself and not the bass. My problem with the Bongo is oh which tone to use.

I went to GC at lunch and played a Bongo. I couldn't find a sound I didn't like. I sure wish business would pick up so a Bongo could find it's way to my house. BTW, I had my eye on a S/HC before today. After playing the HH, I think that's the one I will have to have.
