Hey did any of you guys play through a old Kustom 250 head with Kustom 2X15 Cab before?? I can get a matching cab and head in perfect condition for 400 bucks but I don't know the rep of these cabs, I want it for a rickenbacker and a Gibson ripper bass and the full Vintage sound..

the cab I'm talking about is the one with the vinal padding (Blue Metal flake)

thanks for any opinions, Ted

In a van, down by the river...
I have a Kustom 1x15 that definitely gives you that vintage 70's warm and fuzzy...can't handle a lot of watts, though, so if you run a head other than the 250, you might have to watch out...

I think $400 for the head and cab is a good deal (perhaps too good!...what year are they?)

I've still got my 2x15 that I bought... a long time ago. I put EVMs in it in the previous millenium. It was my first amp. The head died long ago and was swallowed by the ghosts of time.

They were a popular setup back in the day. Under powered and not as nice low end definition by today's standards, but it's certainly a reputable vintage sound. Mine has had a Musicman HD 130 tube head driving it since the Kustom head died. Overall it makes as much noise as the SWR 400 & two Eden 2x10s that replaced it The more modern rig is more clear & punchy while the Kustom is more warm & fuzzy.

I bought the two Eden 2x10s after I dropped that 90 lb Kustom on my big toe.

heres the head and cab and I decided to pass on them so if anyone wants them call this guy . it was from Ebay and they didn't reach the reserve of $400.00 + 100.00 to ship them from PA (165lbs) unless you can pickup.

anyway I called the guy and he said he would take $400 for the head and cab which he says are in excellent condition and he has personally checked everything ( its a music store) and they play fine.

forgot his name but his number is 1-412-722-1234

I do not know this guy or this store so use your own discretion.

I've had a few...they look cooler than they sound.

Here is a good website link for ya:

They sounded like crap for bass unless you used it as a practice amp.
They look great on stage. Creedence Clearwater Revival used a wall of them back in the 70"s
