hi ive been playing guitar for 40 plus years and i recently purchased a new gnx4, This is my first stab at useing anything other than a guitar to make music with . Im in the learning stage with it right now and i could use some advice or help , if anyone wants to give me some help concerning the use of the gnx4 ill be forever grateful, id like to hear about your experience with it . thanks oh by the way im useing it with a reg guitar and a steel guitar.
I have a gnx3, and it does a lot more than I've ever bothered to learn. I'm the kind of person that would rather be playing guitar than trying to figure out which knobs to twist when, or stressing over whether this or that tone is exactly right.
What I did- I learned the basics of how to use the digital recorder, and that's pretty much it. I don't even have my own computer, so I couldn't figure out what to do with all the software that comes with it- I just plug in (my Ernie Ball Steve Morse model) and play. There are 64 (I think) patches on the gnx3, maybe more on yours...I found about three or four that I like (a couple clean tones, the Eric Johnson patch, and 1 or 2 of the "heavy" ones) and I don't tinker with them, I just make recordings and practice soloing or whatever. I hooked mine up to some little battery powered speakers and I just use that instead of an amp for practicing.
I know you can go on digitech's website and they have a gnx forum- people talk about downloading patches and stuff like that, and I'm sure you can get all kinds of good (and bad) advice over there- me, I just like to play, so I figured out how to turn the thing on, where to plug in my guitar, and how to record it.
Sorry I didn't see this earlier but sean is right. Join the GNX4 forum. There are some smart dudes there that seem to have a lot of time on their hands to fool around with this thing. They can help you best.
