Older Axis Sport HSS

Guys,
How "strat like" does the Axis Sport HSS sound when using the neck pickup?
I know the wiring doesn't give all the strat combinations, but I am mainly interested in how the neck Single Coil sounds.
I know a few of you guys have the old pickguard "Sport" models with an HSS combo.
What is your take?

Just done a quick comparison of my Axis Sport SSS with my Strat (with Custom Shop '69 pickups installed). I was surprised how similar they sounded when played clean and through some mid gain overdrive. The Axis sounds a little snappier, clearer and has a fraction more output, but that could also be a result of being on a swamp ash body with maple fretboard as opposed to the alder/rosewood 'board combination of my Strat. The Axis also sounds great with the neck and middle setting....

Love them both!

That is pretty much what I thought.

The pickups are different too (I assume) and so part of the difference is there too, not only the wood.
