Searching in tis forum, lookin at ebay andsome other guitars forums around the world, a doubt comes to my mind when I see prices and descriptions on the Axis of the 90´s assuming that they´re better guitars than the actual made ones.

What do you guys think about that, wich is your personal experience???

As some of you know, I want to buy an Axis, and I´d like to know if I should buy a 90´s one or if that doens´t make a difference.

BTW, take a look at this one, I really like her:

What??
You're actually asking if they are putting out inferior products now?
Are you crazy? lol

Dude don't listen to stupid ass people.
I nearly flipped my lid when I saw some guy lookin at an Axis in local guitar shop and overheard the salesman tell him it was inferior to a Gibson. I was seriously going to cause some **** I was that infuriated. It was all salesman patter because they probably got more outlay on the Gibsons and maybe a bit more profit. Lambs to the slaughter...

Steel, I'm a little bit confused from your post. The Axis you are talking about are made the exact same way as they are made now. The people in the quality department might be different, but quality is quality.

Buy one that appeals to you man, one that makes you wanna play and play and play.

That is a nice one, but have you contacted Pete Dubaldo?? I'd drop him an email and see what he's got, are you in the US??

Thanks for the help man!!!!!

I don´t know who Pete Dubaldo is, I supposse is some kind of EB Dealer.

I´m not in the States right now, thu I always buy guitars overseas, personally when tripping to the States or by Internet, I´m a paypal verified member and I manage a bank, so no problem with credit cards payments or wire transfers.

I like the one in the Ebay, but if Mr. DUbaldo has great stuff at good prices...maybe he is my man!

Thanks for the help as I said.

ANd for all, thanks for the answer.I found that statement being stupid (the oldied being worse than the new ones) but you know, sometimes happens...just wanted to know your oppinion / experience.

Steel, sorry policy is that US dealers can only sell new to US residents. Maybe if you post your location somone from your area might be able to assist you.

As far as Ebay goes that Axis your looking at is kind of high in my opinion, but that's me.

Oh, what a pity....

I have lot of friends in the States that could buy the guitar for me and then ship it to me, but I don´t want to bother them more than I do, hehehe.

I know $1200 would be a fair price for an Axis, thu this one is NEW and really a beauty, maybe I´ll make an offer and see what happens, if not, I´l wait patiently for a good Axis at good price to appear in Ebay.

Steel, if your friends buy it for you and ship it to you, it'll void the warranty.

See I agree that $1200 is good, but $1000 is better. Yah man, make them an offer you never know. :)
Good luck.

MM guitars suck these days. That's why we hang out here.

No, but seriously, I think it's a fair question, given all the changes in guitar companies since the 90's. I can't help you though, as both of mine were made 2000-01. I can say that the total quality and mojo of mine are excellent, and I think the Silo Special design is and always has been nothing short of brilliant. I can't even shop for Fenders or G&L's anymore, and that quite frankly pisses me off. Like I said, MM guitars suck. ;)

List price on that new Axis on Ebay is $2325, and the regular advertised price on that particular model is $1627.50. The price they have it listed at is more than fair for a new instrument, especially one that looks like that one does! The quality on these guitars is fantastic, and I don't think you should have any worries about buying new or used.

Just remember that you would have to buy new in Spain, but used can be from anywhere

Hi Pete, thanks for the advice, now I recognize you from my other post, sorry, but I´m newbie here in this forum.:)

Guitar distribution in Spain SUCKS!, and prices are just ridiculous.

A new Axis here would cost like $3400 new if you´re lucky.:mad:

I always buy guitars when I go to the States, or via Internet.

Take a look at my collection at:

SteelEdge78 - Mis Guitarras

You can see lots of pics clicking in each guitar name (sorry, text is only in Spanish...)

I think it´s time to add an EBMM to my collection, don´t you?

Thanks for all guys, this forum is really cool and full of nice people.

Sorry, my Spanish is rusty...

The price difference is to help support the distribution and dealer network that will help you if there is, for some reason, a problem with your guitar. If you go around the dealer network by having your friends ship you the guitar, then you are out of luck getting help locally, or from EB if there is a problem somewhere down the line.

I like how the pickups in your JEM match the print on it. I have never seen one with a floral print on it before - it actually looks kind of cool! Grab a MusicMan if you can, and welcome to the forum!

Dude you better think long and hard about what you are going to do...

because once you buy an Axis you are going to say goodbye to all your other guitars and end up selling them............

I'd be very cautious about the buy-it-now on that one. It happens to match, to the penny what a very large national chain sells this guitar for. Sounds like you pay full price and then get the guitar without the warantee. I'd rather go to Dubaldo and have someone who can actually tell me one guitar from another.

By the way the dollar is on a upward run and the euro and pound have dropped over 5% in just over a week (based on future European economic uncertaintly) so you might want to consider looking for an Axis closer to home ;)

Oh and there are no differences qualitywise between older and newer MM guitars...

Looks just like mine.

I can't comment o the 90's version, having never played one. I can tell you that the new ones are incredible guitars. Mine was made in April, so it is about as new as you can get. I have had everything guitar-wise (Custom Shop Gibsons, PRS, Fender, etc.) this guitar far outshines them all. My tech said the same thing. Everyone who has heard it is blown away by it; the tone is amazing, and sounds like a stop tail rather than a Floyd equipped guitar. It is really warm sounding and easy to play (it plays like it was built for my hands). Sounds great with every amp I have played it through, and through my Bogner, sounds like the second coming.

If the ones from the 90's are better guitars, I have to get one, as it would be the best guitar ever built.

That salesman has been smoking something. The Gibson USA's are dog sh*t guitars; the custom shop ones are nice, but the Axis is just as nice, if not better (it IS better in my opinion). I have had dozens of custom shop Gibsons, and this guitar is equal to or better than ALL of them. Not to mention the Axis is less than $1600, and my Gibsons were all over $4K, most nearly $5K.

I think the salesman must've seen the higher commission coming his way from a Gibson. I guess making sure the customer is happy is a secondary concern these days. This is why I don't shop at large music store chains.

Absolutely true, please believe. I have unloaded all of my other guitars, and I have ordered an Axis BFR. Cool deal.
