I tried to post earlier, but as I am new I think it got lost in the ether of the internet !!
Here I go again.
I am a big fan of a young guy (18) who plays guitar, sings, writes AND has a record deal !!
Please do not groan and think, another young wannabe, this boy is SO good it hurts !!
I have seen him live on numerous occasions and his whole on-stge persona, style etc etc is like someone that has had years and years of experience. He takes nothing for granted and really makes you feel that you are up there with him..he feels EVERY note, he does not play more notes than he needs to, yes, can play fast but fast with feeilng and I mean feeling. His slow Blues numbers eek every bit of emotion out of him and the audience...you can hear a pin drop !!
When I first saw him last year, he used D'Addario strings and a pick, I have noticed he now uses a thumb pick (he told me it gives him more flexibility of style) and he now uses Ernie Ball, Skinny Tops Heavy Bottoms as they have a great tone AND he has a deal !! Lucky boy !!
Oli played at the Leicester City Blues festival and was outstanding, but not only as a player, but a a genuinely nice kid...he talks to and with you not AT you.
I have not mentioned Oli's band, the bass player (he is a young guy too) plays a 6 string !! and he CAN play too, his name is Fred (the boy, not the bass !!) Oli's drummer, Simon excellent. I did talk to all three at the end of their Leicester gig, they are so enthusiastic.
Right, that is the end of my plug for Oli and his band..if you have not seen them, please make the effort, I promise you you will not be disappointed !! Ask, John Mayall, Walter Trout, Robben Ford, Johnny Winter etc these guys have ALL had Oli Brown support them !!
