Just IMO so take it or leave it:
I've heard that OLP is a great budget bass, but no matter how much customizing you do to it, it will still be an OLP. With the things you're planning to do to it, it looks like you could easily spend the cost of that bass over several times. When you want to sell it and get a Music Man, you'll get very little for the OLP and the upgrade bux will be lost.
Whereas if you save your money and then find a good deal on a used real Music Man, you will be able to recoup the cost of the Music Man if you decide to sell it.
Again, JUST MO.

why not ebay something? or do what mark did in australia, buy one on the bay and have it shipped disassembled. I can't imagine having a bass shipped over there from the US could be more than a couple hundred, and figure a used stingray can go anywhere from 550-1100, you are still looking cheaper.

the first 2 things I would upgrade would be the tuning pegs and bridge, those will make a big difference and won't cost too too much. If the neck wood is already good, then it's a good neck, if it doesn't bow or warp then keep it. As for the electronics, why not go for the BassLines stuff, it might work better than the Bartolini's. The OLP might need the more agressive BassLines stuff. But I do think that just starting with an upgraded bridge/tuners would be a noticable difference in tone(and cheaper)

You cannot buy a new Musicman neck. You might find a used one on ebay, but it will probably take some time before one comes up
