Olp Musicman Steve Lukather Guitar - eBay Electric, Guitars, Instruments, Musical Instruments. (end time 01-May-10 13:12:13 AEST)

^^

so im eyeballing this OLP luke. first and foremost it says "new" ... OLP doesnt exist anymore so i dont really see how it could be "new" (ive emailed him and awaitinghis answer)

aside from this, what can you guys tell me about the OLPs, i dont know much. would any of you warn me against getting it? what should i expect when i receive it?

also it says a basswood body which is interesting, ill be interested to hear how it sounds, any comments?

finally, ive heard a lot of quite good things about sterling guitars, how do OLP match up to sterling guitars? would you say that they too were good value for money? is $349 australian (around $300 american) a good deal for this OLP luke?

One day along time ago before I knew about EBMM, I went shopping for a new guitar. I saw this red EVH shaped guitar on the rack so I just bought it.

I won’t badmouth OLP because they were EBMM licensed, their gone and we shouldn’t bash other makers here so I won’t say how I really feel about them. The next day I was back at the store before they opened to return it.

Then I bought a real guitar. Thats just my opinion.

Hi Walleye,

I have one OLP luke, it's been in my house for about 3 years, i bought it to accompany me while i was waiting my first musicman luke.

Regarding the quality, i have to say that it's a good guitar compared with other guitar priced for around $200-300 (new). The only flaws they have is the quality of the hardware and the precision of the set up. My olp tremolo got stuck on the tremolo brigde hole , cannot be operated.
here's a good comparison :

part 2 : [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20sznNvmaqI"]YouTube- OLP Luke vs MusicMan Luke - Episode 2[/nomedia]

But my opinion about this OLP luke are:
- It's too expensive
In one music store in my country, a new OLP cost only for $ 200, new in perfect condition.
- I recommend you to get the musicman luke, because as my experience, you will love this olp and you will be thinking to get the real one. To upgrade OLP's hardware to a better one could cost you quite much. (bridge $200, emg's $300, sperzel tuner $150) and you still can't get the musicman quality because the wood is not a premium one.

If you are okay with other ebmm model, i recommend you to get sterling (but luke model is not available) , i heard that the quality of sterling's hardware is better than olp's.

good luck,
Abraham
