Hi,
I got an MM1 a few days ago and have been playing it non stop. I like it, and have since put on 11s. I am trying to find a good price on the 5150 combo and may drop a tone zone and airnorton into this thing.. if i can get it to stay in tune.
I still haven't set the intonation/ truss rod or action and I think I am going to have a shop do that.
With the proper setup, will that help the guitar stay in tune? Does the nut have to be filed? Should I get some better tuners on it. I do not use the whammy but do get into some big bends.
I am thinking about adding something above the nut on the head stock so the strings are pushed down before the tuners.
Before this guitar, I used to have this generic strat type guitar from Marina. It had the same bridge as the OLP MM1 and I couldn't find anything that played, sounded or stayed in tune as well as it did, (short of $1000 models). Anyway, that got stolen along with the rest of my gear but the point I am trying to make is;
It seems like you don't need to have schecter or grover tuners with a floyd rose to stay in tune.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
