Hi Ernie ball Forums,

Is there any OLP MM2 owners out there that has fitted a Hipshot Bass X-Tender (Drop Tuner)? I'm currently looking at the fitting one but I am unsure as to which version is suited to this bass?

The Hipshot BT1 is stated as being for Musicman and G&L basses, however the shape of the tuner and the dimensions stated on their website are different to that of the tuner fitted on the OLP? The Hipshot BT7 looks like the closest one by looking at the dimensions but this is stated as being made for MIM Fenders? I really don't want to drill holes into my headstock and 'make it fit', or purchase the drop tuner to then find out its wrong one.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Olp basses and sbmm basses are fitted with brandless tuners they are not schallers like real ebmm's. So the bt1 wont fit because this is a replacement for schaller tuners. The fender p-bass replacements should indeed be closer but i cant tell you if they will fit without drilling.

CAll Hipshot and ask for Oscar. He knows all the tech stuff and will have you send him pics. I have two coming as we speak for my Bongos.

maybe you should replace the rest of the tuners as well when you are at it? i am sure they will be happy to make you a full set :)
