OLP Stingray 5 Owners!!!

I have an OLP Stingray 5 that I'd like to put stock Ernie Ball Stingray 5 electronics and pickup in, How hard would that be, what would it entail and has anyone done it?? Thanks!!

You can't buy replacement electronics, mainly just because of that reason right there. If you find 'em on Ebay or something, then that's a whole different story.

Don't hot rod an OLP..if you want the best bass you can get out of an OLP get a Tony Levin sig, they are great little basses especially at the price point and will need no mods out of the box.

completely with you there joshbrake - I have an OLP Levin and it plays and sounds just as good (if not better) than my old Stingray I had years ago (still regretting getting rid it that ! ) - I think for the price they cannot be beaten

I have the Levin OLP too, and have switched out the preamp with a Seymour Duncan unit- I did it only because the original preamp was defective and I didn't want to mess with it. I kept the original OLP pickup though.

I have to say in this configuration, it's one of my best sounding basses. The tone is amazing. It's still an OLP with a few ergonomic quirks, so I don't play it that much (I have several other basses including MM), but I wish I could get this tone in some of my more expensive basses.

As to the standard OLP 5 string, gee, I don't know if it would be worth the trouble to mod one of those. They're just not that well done in general, and there might be better ways to spend the time and money (as far as value goes).

I have an SR5 and a guitarist friend bought the OLP t lev model, I A/B'd them and it's pretty close..but keep in mind the OLP is much more limited tonally than the SR5 is.

once again I agree with you mate - OLP's are cool and do a great job but they aren't the real thing - like I said I had an SR years ago and they really are the business!

I don't know if you've heard any different, but at the UK Knucklehead Bash in London, I was chatting to the String & Things guys and they were saying that OLP stuff isn't being produced at the moment/maybe not again - have you fellas heard and news??

Maybe I have myself a rare bass now?!?!

I'm afraid i can't afford one at the moment I'm saving for a sterling first i think anyways, a levin would be nice to noodle on though at some point.
