I don't know why, but I gave the lefty Silhouette HSS at my local music store another try. I used to work there; so they let me take it home to try with my own gear. Within a few hours of actually playing and using my gear; I went back to the store with my '62 RI Strat and traded it in on the Silhouette.

I wasn't particularly a fan of the Silhouette the first time around; but upon comparing to the Fender; I totally changed my mind. Everything about it made me go WAWAWEEWOW! That's the actual noise I made. This makes me the proud owner of a greyish type of Silhouette with what appears to be a multi-colored pickguard. The tag was totally wrong, citing it as a sunburst with tortoise shell pg. Totally not the case...

I now officially cannot wait until my DD LUKE comes in. I was making a stink to anyone that would listen a few days ago about piezo being offered in the LH version; but that's over and done with and I'm happy the way things are now... also the LH Piezo DD Luke was one of those "one off" models that I couldn't change even if I wanted to. Nonetheless, I am astounded by EBMM, and the people involved.

Three thumbs up kids for a fabulous job all around.

Versatile indeed!

I own a Mesa amp. It lends itself very well to modern sounds. I can make it sound like a Marshall or newer Fender or whatever the case may be. I rocked out with the Silo for a good couple of hours and decided it was perfect.

The real test however, came after I got off shift at my bartending job. I work at the only real Blues club in Western Canada, and we have a Fender Evil Twin amp lying around for jammers to use. I decided to give it a whirl with my Silo to see how it would mesh with a "vintage" sound...

After playing for close to four hours, I decided it's better than anything Fender could ever put out. The single coils were butter with the amp, and the humbucker grooved really well in a jazzy sense. I honestly will never buy another brand of guitar. On that last comment... a good friend of mine just decided the same thing. I was the pusher that got him to trade in his JEM7V for a SMY2D. He's the owner of a Axis, SMY2D and a JP7 on the way.

I think he and I make up most of the guitar purchasing clientele for EBMM guitars in Western Canada. Damn those guitars for being so super sweet.

I find it amazing when I hear folks talk bout tradin guitars in. Round these parts(eastern PA) shops dont even wanna hear about trades or buying used stuff. I was quoted a trade in price of 125.00 for a American standard strat I bought brand new 2 months before at the same store. your lucky if you can find 1 or 2 used guitars in any store around here. Their answer is usually----well, sell your guitar on Ebay---we dont wanna deal with used guitars, but they have 45 new 150$ Epiphones!!!!! Sorry bout the rant---but I miss the days when you could trade guitars in and actually see good used stuff in the shops. Guess thoae days are gone................

I'm with ya on that one Tommy---I think the bloom is off the rose with guitars on Ebay. I think our area needs a REAL boutique kind of shop that would deal in new and used QUALITY instruments. Maybe its time for me to run my own buisness again.........hmmmmmm.......

it was Dudley and My first collaboration and still has legs! a very versatile guitar

It's got legs, arms, mind, soul. Honestly never had a guitar that covered so many styles and tones as my SS's. Add to that, it's the easiest guitar I've ever played. The neck is a marvel of ergonomics. This would all be well and good if it was a custom guitar which costs twice the price, but that an average working Joe twanger could afford one (or more :D), that makes them exceptional by any standard.
