Things are heating-up! The Band is having a great season, and our reputation is building nicely. Case in point - Jefferson Day this past weekend...
I'm in north Jersey (Sussex County) and many towns have "a day" where they celebrate their community with a carnival or a fair. Some towns do it bigger than others; Jefferson does it real big - this is their 24th straight year. I reached-out to their Arts Committee early in the year, but missed-out on their township festival AND their Gazebo Concert Series for this year - or so I thought...
Got a call on Thursday about filling-in on Saturday for one of their Bands that backed-out on them. They had our promo-pack and liked what they saw and heard. I scramble the guys, move a few things and take the gig. Mother Nature floods the fairgrounds Friday night into Saturday and the event moves to Sunday - we're still good, but a second Band cancels and suddenly we have a two-set opportunity.
Full stage trailer, full concert PA and sound engineer. We just need the back-line and we're good to go. We had a BLAST! It was real hot - my amp shut-down on me four times. We were in full sun (4:00PM - 6:00PM facing south-west) the entire time. Weather man had temps at about 90 but it was hotter on that big, black stage. We had the power go out on us twice - the second time it refuse to reset, so we shut-off a bunch of stage fans we had. Got hotter on stage...
And we loved every minute of it. The feedback we've been getting has been over the top and I'm pretty sure we'll be back next year - July 9th, 2011 already "penciled in".
Pictures posted on our website: Phil 'n the Void! - pics100711. Lot's of Bongo action - Enjoy!
