Anyone here use open tunings on the Axis SS w/vintage trem?

I usually use open G on a couple of older guitars that have the

action raised to play slide guitar. I wanted to know if it's a problem

to tune to Open G: D-G-D-G-B-D on the Axis SS ? Do i need a trem

lock? does anyone take off the high E string? any special set up advice?

Not a problem with the tuning....I quite often just tune the top E down to a D then I can chug along on the bottom strings, I use a "Slideslammer" nut to raise the action on whatever guitar I use for slide. Assume you wouldn't be using the trem too much while paying slide

I play slide in standard tuning, in drop-D tuning (DADGBE), and in drop-DD tuning (DADGBD) and I have no problem (I use 10-46 string gauge).
I do not raise the action for slide but I believe my action is higher than most of the guitarists on this forum (in general, when I set up a new guitar I will adjust the action higher than the factory settings).

I would advise against removing the low E string as there are a lot of songs that use voicings that include it, like Zeps Dancing Days. Just mute it with the very tip of your index finger.
