Help! Opinions on the EBMM Sterling guitars...

I might be picking up a Sterling JP50...played it for a good hour or so and thought it played great. Love the neck on it...alot thinner than the neck on my SG.. which is the main reason i'm shopping for another guitar (need something with a faster neck).

Would love to get some opinions on this guitar.

You're way ahead of the game if you can play the actual guitar. That is the proof all by itself. I've played a JP50 at DuBaldo's and like it a lot. It played really well. (and I'm not even a JP player).

How do you like the Sterlings in general? They seem solid...i'm especially curious about the trem on the jp50 . Didn't play with it much at the store but i plan on using it quite a bit if i decide on this guitar.

I'm not looking for a flawless guitar...just something with decent playability that can hold up and take the abuse of 2-3 gigs a week.

Like Jack said, if you played it and liked it, you pretty much have your answer. Sure is a nice price on those guitars. I would really like to try out one of those JP50s one day too.

I love it. Gig regularly with it and it holds up well. I might consider dropping in the Crunch Lab/Liquid Fire pickups combo.
Some other things I would upgrade is the cheap toggle switch and the jack, other than that, no issues.
The bar will surprise you. It stays in tune incredibly well, even when I do Van Halen/Brad Gillis type dives and flutter, it stays in tune. The tightness is adjustable using an allen key, I like that a lot. I don't get extreme violent with the bar, but for all genearal intended purposes, it hold up great. The locking tuners really help.

I almost always throw EMG's in my guitars unless i'm only using it as a backup/beater...then i'll just leave in the stock pickups.

I might experiment with some good passives in this one though...not sure if i'll like the EMG's in a basswood guitar
