I disagree.
setting up ridiculously low action entails a number of factors but not all guitars will accept it.
The guitar has to WANT to do it. It has to be a completely stable neck and not be affected by adverse weather changes or any weather changes for that matter. I have had some success at 0.5mm but other guitars just can't. Heck, some don't like .8mm. It's a tough thing to tell your client that it can't be done on that guitar even though we pulled it off on one of their other ones.
The frets must be absolutely perfect. Pleked for sure. The radius needs to be larger. Just because the neck radius is cut a certain way doesn't mean the frets need to follow. I've had plek jobs done where the neck radius is 12" but we cut the frets to be 16 or even 20" past the 9th fret.
For bends, it's easier if there is a vibrato bridge. Flush mount the bridge to be down only and when bending, have the springs loose enough so that the bridge raises slightly on any bend so clearance is added. Like I said the main problem is keeping it to play that way. Bumping the guitar around or even humidity changes can alter things. I don't like setting up guitars that low but it can be done.
