Ok, judging by the bad, one angle online store pics I cannot really tell the difference between the Orage Firemist and the Desert Gold colors.
Call me blind and all but I would love it if someone explained or preferably showed me the difference between the two.

Thanks! :D

I've not seen the firemist, but I've had two DGs and if someone can describe a firemist, maybe it will help contrast with my description.

The DG is a light orange color with a yellow almost color shift effect. When light hits it, the yellow pops out. And, by yellow, I mean Ferrari yellow. lol It reminds me of a dreamcicle and it looks about as edible. lol

Is it legal from someone on the "bass side" to respond?

In person, my orange firemist Bongo 5 single H appears as a beautiful copper metallic.

in colour they are alot alike, but OF has bigger sparkles (though not as big as blue dawn and other sparkles) and doesn't change colour the same way. it also refracts light differently.

Look at my album I have a JP 6 in Desert Gold and it is beautiful IMHO. but I think Orange Firemist is also a great color, you will like either one.

I think of Orange Firemist and True Gold as the updated versions of Lava Pearl and Desert Gold respectively, if that helps any.

This seems pretty accurate. There is more gold and yellow in the DG. And the way it reflects light is more "goldish" than "fiery".

Both fantastic colours, but I'm more partial to Desert Gold.

yeah...Desert Gold rules

I guess in ordinary, winter-cloudy daylight they look much alike...but as soon as stage lights are on, the DG reflects drama-drama (yellow-gold changes), whilst the OF goes good-ole-buddy (copper tone) ;) Maybe that's it?
