Using a DSL 50 right now, it sounds great but I am always looking to improve upon my tone.
I have been thinking of a Orange Rockerverb 50.
Any thought out there? How does it compare to a dsl 50, etc?

thanks for all the help...

Mainly play altervative rock, with some metal.

The orange will be thicker, but have less gain so you will need a boost for the heavy stuff - they sound different though - I actually like the orange tones better because I love thick distortion but like I said the DSL will have more tones and more gain out of the box, I use a boost in front of most of my heads and it sounds huge so dont be afraid of the boost! SD1 tightens things up as well, but there are tons of great boost for vintagy heads thoat sound great, start another thread on boosts and youll get opinions form everyone -

Norrin has a Orange Rockverb. So he sould be able to give you a good analysis. I use the Orange Tiny Terror into a Orange PPC2x12 and love it. :D

I used to own a DSL50 & liked it. I now own an Orange RV50 half stack & I love it! I'm in a bit of a hurry to get out the door now - but I will give you a lengthier description later today (probably tonight). In short - the RV is thicker and deeper (more low mid-range push) than the DSL, but it is still very British.

I use to have the huge Wattage Marshall/Mesa Rig 50/100watts and basically for my applications (small gig/jam with friends) didn't need such a monster wattage amp/stack. Though it looked pretty sweet. With the Orange I can switch wattages 7/15 and even running on 7 watts at about 3 o'clock I'm still told I'm too loud.

Actually I do not agree with you.

I play through a RV 50 head and 2x12 Orange cab.

The Rockerverb as opposed to previous Orange amps has extremely amounts of gain on on the dirty channal.

I've owned my amp for 8 months now and it's without doubt the most versatile at sweet sounding amp I've ever played.

Kicks the hell out of the Marshall IMO

the rockerverb has plenty of gain imho. the thunderverb is the one with less gain. both have huge thick distortions, but the TV is more the classic type of tone. jim root uses the RV, if that means anything.
