Hey cats.

I have seen that a few people have gotten their DD orders all ready. I am kind of curious as to why mine hasn't shown up, which prompted this thread.

Rather than ask "where's my guitar?" I am far more curious about this idea generally and on a larger scale. How does all of this go down?

Do any guitars have more precedence than others? If two guitars were ordered at exactly the same time, would they both just be thrown into a cue? For people like J-Nick and I, are the left handed guitars situated differently as far as production goes? Is there a special day of the month that all the lefties are built?

Next... do suppliers that order more guitars/basses have precedence as far as receiving their stock? Let's say that one place ordered two guitars, and another place ordered three guitars and two basses... would the place that ordered more get theirs first?

This kind of behind-the-curtains info really interests me. I have never quite understood the rigors of it, so I figured I'd ask and see what kind of answers I get.

Thanks!

There are only 1 or 2 people on here who know enough about the company to answer your questions.........

I am curious how it works as well, for I am awaiting another JP...

I am curious too. I'll bet they break it down in to groups that are similar / the same and put them through in batches.
I mean, it would not make sense to keep changing your tooling to build in the exact order things come in.

Hi Guys......Well as you can imagine there is a lot that goes into planning out our production schedule(Dargin can fill you in). For the most part its basically like your getting a spot in line once your order is placed(ever notice how the best rides at Disneyland always have the longest lines) When people ask me about the length of our B/O time...I reply with: Ever notice how Space Mountain and The Mattahorn have the longest lines. Our current back order time is 5-6 months on all instruments. Of course some options or colors may add time onto the back order depending on availability of wood...etc...etc. One thing we will never do is quote a "hard time" on when an instrument will be complete......we always make sure that all Music Man instruments are playing, feeling and sounding perfectly before they leave the factory, and if that means that it takes a week or two longer to build that particular instrument then that is what we will do!
