I'm most likely going to Guitar Center on Friday to order a new Silhouette Special. Has anyone ordered and been able to specify things like the pick guard color and especially to make the tremolo floating as that's what I need to do anyway? Thx for any info.

you can order from guitar center.. but you may want to order from one of the smaller independent dealers. Like BassCentral Or Dubaldo's Either one will take good care of you and get you exactly what you want. As long as Ernie Ball Music Man Makes it in its standard production. They can get it for you. If you end up going with Bass Central. Tell Them Erin in Pittsburgh told you to call them. They will take good care of you. So will Dubaldo's

To be honest I have never bought a guitar from GC so I could not tell you, like Erin above I support my local store. I am sure if you do as Erin stated and contacted Bass Central they would take care of you or contact Pete-Dubaldo's as guys all over the country on this forum do business with him.

With all due respect...He did not ask where to buy. I would not like it if GC posted on a thread with an independant that you should buy from them.

I love all my dealers. I would be out of business without Guitar Centers volume and support....There would be no indies without Guitar Center....They buy in a month what the top two buy in a year. I need all of them....

So please I would sincerely appreciate it if in these instances the question was answered.

Yes is the answer.

You can pick the pickguard color. As to whether the trem would be set to float, I've never really asked, I'm not a trem guy. Talk to the people @ GC, they are usually pretty good. If they are unsure have them contact customer service.

I've bought from GC before they were good to deal with, very helpful, it was a NOS piece, but they gave me a great deal.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

I ordered my last Silo Spec. at GC. I did not order anything that was not listed on EBMM website as options so I can't help with the trem question. My guitar ended up being in stock elsewhere in their system and I recieved it at home in just about a week. No problems and they even take trades.

I've ordered a Luke and a Stingray direct from Ernie ball for a customer. It was easy! I sat down with the customer in front of a computer with the Music Man website in the office and we went over all the options they'd like. I sent their specs to EB's Customer Service email and they responded in less than 24 hrs with part numbers, prices and lead times. After I gave the customer the final quote, we put the order in and had the instrument as specd out 6 weeks later.

Find a competent, patient salesperson who knows what they're doing and you shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. I do support local companies as well as GC.

Now, there's this 15% discount I found out happens this weekend and the local San Jose GC said that it does not cover special orders. I will try to shoehorn it in but worst case I assume I could order a white pick guard separately and do the floating tremolo bridge adjustments myself when the guitar arrives.

PS: Music Man guitars are a positive curse. Picked up a Silo just for fun and now my Ibanez guitars are like baseball bats so I will just trade them in as they are no longer played. Ho ho.

Hey Ksand,

I've bought a ton of gear from GC over the years. Ask for Mike at the San Jose store (if you'd like). That particular store can do just about anything per the things you mentioned, it's no big deal.

Hi, I went twice there today, morning was too busy. In the evening they realized they had to call Ernie Ball to find out if the specific Silhouette was available or not. Alas, seems Ernie Ball is closed for a week so I really have bad luck ordering a new Silhouette just now, ack. Oh well...

It happens to the best of us...embrace your weakness for the MM...

I bought my '11 Black Sugar Axis from GC, and they treated me well. I love the guitar, and it shipped promptly.

And, did I mention that I love the guitar? Oh, that roasted neck is wonderful...really. It's unbelievable how nice it feels. The font they chose for the 'Ball Family Reserve' inlay is perfect. Very classy. And, the roasted color brings out the birdseye so much.

I'm in love...;) Thanks BP...you are the ultimate matchmaker.
