Hi guys, I'm getting my Polar Noir Majesty in a couple days and wanted to ask a few questions so I don't mess up.
1) This may seem like a stupid question. I sweat a lot when I play, so I go through the steps in this video every time I change strings:
Now, as the neck in the Majesty is finished, I assume I can't maintain it using this method, so how would I go about maintaining that finished neck?
Also, which would be the best way to clean and maintain the polished ebony fretboard? I use wonder wipes for the rosewood fretboard of my JP50, I don't know if the ebony or the fact that it is polished make any difference.
2) I have a bit of a problem understanding the concept of relief (english is not my mother tongue). If my guitar was setup for 9s in standard tuning, and I want to set it up for 10s in standard, will the neck need more or less relief?
Thanks a bunch guys! NGD thread as soon as she gets here!

1) I'll let the other majesty owners chime in with the care of the neck and board.

2) IF you go from 9s to 10s, both sets strings will need about the same amount of neck relief to avoid string buzz. BUT the 10 gauge strings have higher tension than 9s. That extra tension on the neck will bend the neck a little, increasing the neck relief (and raising the action a little bit too). So, going from 9s to 10s, you may need to tighten the truss rod to counteract the extra tension from the 10s compared to the 9s to bring the neck back to the same relief it had to begin with.

When you put the 10s on, you will also need to adjust the trem claw to make sure the bridge is parallel to the guitar top as it was with the 9s (because the extra tension from the 10s pulls the bridge up). This will be trial and error - tune, check bridge, tighten claw screws, re-tune, check again, re-adjust, re-tune, check again, etc. Once the bridge is set correctly, that will ensure the bridge/saddles are at the same height relative to the guitar that they were before. Then adjust the truss rod as necessary for comfortable action and you should be good to go!

Thanks Doc, I know the bit about the trem claw, and I can figure out the truss rod thing, what I was looking for really was a bit of a rule of thumb for future cases... Following the tips from the attached picture, I'd have to turn the truss rod to the right, right? MusicMan Truss-Rod Adjustment.jpg
Another thing, when people talk about having a "back bow" does the neck "bend" towards the back of the guitar, or towards the front (where the pickups and bridge are)?
Thanks a lot and waiting on the neck care tips!

Yes you are right, turn to the right.

Yes, back bow is the neck bending to the back of the guitar. Instead of a small dip in the centre of the neck (which is the neck relief we want) the neck would be raised/humped in the middle.

BTW, Majesty ships with 10s, right?

Thanks a lot! Yes, it currently ships with 10s. The first batches shipped with 9s though if I'm not mistaken. The thing is I use a "hybrid" set: 10-13-17-28-38-48, so I'll need to adjust the truss rod, trem claw and intonation.
