Hi, I have a stingray 2EQ, a 3EQ and a SR5.

The 3EQ is one of the early ones from 1987 which I bought new BITD.

I am curious to know the origin of the 3EQ, why was it developed when the 2EQ already existed ? Could anyone at Ernie Ball answer ?

Some people believe the 2EQ is more "authentic" and to have a deeper bass sound than than the 3EQ. Personally I love both, but in a rock setting with twin Les Pauls or similar, I find the 2EQ has less presence in the mix. Here the mid control on the 3EQ comes into its own.

Thanks

Thanks Big Poppa !

Could you tell me why it was developed ? What was the reason / need to do so ?

Thanks
