Hi everybody, i'm new to this forum, but not new to music man, which I own since 1996 when I bought my original amber EVH signature. I love my guitar, but it's time to have at least one backup because I don't want to waste it totally. Well, looking here in Italy it happened that I found a music man guitar with a EVH body in trans purple and an AXIS neck ??? The headstock is non matching with the AXIS logo so I would like to know from experts: is it possible or is it a frankenstein work???

The Axis neck is wider at the heel than the EVH neck was. Unless body was modified to make the neck pocket wider, an Axis neck won't fit on an EVH body.

I would ask the seller for the serial number, and then post in our Serial Number thread and ask for the production date, colour, etc.

I know there a few oddball Axis guitars out there that have the EVH switch position and Axis on the headstock made around the time of the transition from EVH to Axis.

That said, I don't think non-matching headstock was an option at this time, so its probably a 'bitsa' guitar. If the price is right and its done well, go for it!
