OT Amp Question-Mesa Roadster

Has anyone tried this amp? I've been playing a 5150 for the last 15 years, but I need more versatility for what my band is doing now (& a good clean channel).

I'm having a hell of a time finding someone who stocks these & don't want to drop $2,000 without trying it in person. If anyone has played through one, or any of the other Mesa rectifier amps, I'd appreciate any insight you can give.

I own one! I wouldn't trade it for anything (well, maybe a Road King II). It is really versatile, but you should try out the Mark IV too...This is a really huge topic and you should check out The Boogie Board :: Index I refer anyone who has questions/intentions to buy Mesa amps to this forum. The members there can help you with ANYTHING related to these monster amps...I suppose you could PM me for my opinions, though

Looking at your guitar collection I'd also recommend trying out the Stiletto Ace. I'd like to hear the Roadster too, but my only fear is that some customers are experiencing pops while changing channels. Checkout the published reviews on their website and the Guitar World John Petrucci lesson where he's using the Stilleto Ace. I think its on YouTube. Andy Timmons is doing a few USA clinics, but nothing close to me.

Check out the Boogie forum, but you really should try and find one to play first.

Do any GC's around you carry Mesa Boogie? I have 2 near me and only one carries the Mesa line. I had to drive a little farther but it was worth it, I ended up buying the Stiletto Ace and love it. One day I'll end up buying a Mark IV but for now the Ace keeps me very happy tonewise, it's very versatile.

True but pops are a fairly common thing on many Boogies, not just the Roadster. It's a static issue in the footswitch. Cycle through the switches once when you turn on and it's gone.

Thanks Fred. The GC's in my area do stock Mesas, but none of them have the Roadster in stock. I'm going to check out the Stiletto & keep looking for a Roadster to try.

Sorry Cud, but that's not true. My Tuner Mute pops EVERY time I select it, no matter what. They had a huge thread about this on the Boogie Board and it was concluded that the "static" issue is BS. They started a petition that they're gonna' send to Randall Smith to "End the Popping Noise". It isn't a bashing petition, either. It's a serious attempt to get Mesa to live up to their excellent reputation.
