Got a friend offering me a BA115HP. Haven't seen it yet to know what condition but he hasn't gigged it, just used it in rehearsal so I figure good condition. Wondering what a good offer would be. The guy just wants to get rid of it so I was going to offer $150, maybe $200. Too low, too high, any suggestions?

I used to own one of these and found it VERY un-fulfilling. I sold it for $250.00, the same price I paid for it new.

Make your own deduction from there.

So is it even worth getting? I'm a living room bassist so there is no burning desire on my part. I thought there might be the possibility that a little gem was falling into my lap. My LMS doesn't have one to go try so your input is much appreciated. Any quantitative or qualitative statements are welcome.

If you are the "living room" bassist, then this will suit your needs perfectly. I saw what these things are going for now (retail), after I made the initial post.
150-200 dollars looks to be a great price for that unit.
I can't beleive how much they have jumped in price since I purchased and sold mine about 3 years ago.

I say, for living room and the occasional jam it's gonna be great for you. They are a good, solid, well made unit. It should last for years and years. Hell, it's an ampeg for gods sake!

JUST GO FOR IT!!!

I used my little nearly new B-50R a few weeks ago for a small living room jam and it performed wonderfully. At 50 watts, I wouldn't expect it to do much more than that, but the Ampeg combos have great tone....just underpowered for most purposes.

Living room? Oh yeah.
