Hey guys it's been a while :)

I've been listening to this song new born lately and i've been wondering what effects the bassist uses for this song.

Is there anyone that can help me out with it?

for references here's the song

if people can figure out the live one it would be amazing, but it's easier for the cd one.

They're both more or less the same thing tho right?

Hi!

That is a great song! Sounds to me on the live thing that he´s using lots of distortion and the bass is tuned drop D. On the CD its is played on keyboard, you may get that sound by using only the low octive on a octive pedal. At least my Ebs octabass sounds like that. On the live thing they may have that synth playing along on backtracks. Hope this helped!

Good luck!

Sounds like overdrive or distortion to me. Lots of it, but with the treble cut to take away the edge.

BTW, I don't think it is played on the keyboard after the intro, when the full band kicks in. There's more detail and life than I'd expect if played on a keyboard.

Yes they add electric bass and lots of distortion/overdrive and some octive effects when the band kicks in, but there´s still the keyb. bass playing along. Sounds like that to me anyways
