well, my new guitar came via fedex ground..AT 10:18 am!!! WTF..I gotta work! so I couldn't sign for it

now, it's been awhile since I've gotten anythign delivered by fedex..so correct me if I'm wrong..they usually leave a little slip on your door...that you can either go and pick it up or wait until the next day, right?

I know where the local fedex place is..so I should be able to go there with that slip and pick it up tonight? I'll be in that area anyway..

thanks in advance guys..

Normally and I'm speaking as a Canadian, they'll say on the slip, that they will try again tommorrow, if you want to pick it up, you'll have to call them first, sometimes these guys don't go to the warehouse till late at night, and perhaps if they don't know you're picking up then they'll leave it on the truck...

Fedex left my brand new 2x12 on my front step, in the rain, and they also left a slip of paper to tell me that they left it on my step. They failed to put 'in the rain' on it though. Fortunately, my wife put a blanket over it till I got home because she couldn't lift it. Her and the kids were having a nap at the time, she wakes up, and finds this huge box on our front step.

really? when I look on the tracking it says that 'delivery failed' or whatever..due to me not bein' there to sign it...so it doesn't seem like they just left it there..unless they actually did...I'd be highly surprised...

I mean, I kinda have to go to guitar center and use some coupons and a gift cert anyway and it's in the area of the one I THINK they would be inclined to leave it at....if they don't leave it on the truck...

I wonder if I call them if they can have the guy swing by again...since they deliver till 8 or 9

LOL

im sure the fedex guy just didnt feel like moving the heavy ass box back into the truck. I cant beleive they'd leave it out in the rain - heavy or not, leaving just about anything besides a Chia Pet in the rain is probably a bad idea.

UPS has left 2 guitars at my doorstep. We had an entry way that obscured the view of the boxes, but there they were...sitting outside.

What I do these days is have my instruments shipped to a UPS Customer center tagged "hold for pickup". Thru tracking online you can see when it moves to exception status, then just run down there w/ tracking # and a photo ID. These new UPS "stores" will also hold for pickup but they charge a $5 fee.

Fedex will offer the same service too.

Make sure you call them 1800GOFEDEX w/ the traking number and schedule a pickup for later on today, that way they'll be expecting you! That's what I usually do!

FedEx residential absolutely sucks. Unlike FedEx commercial delivery, they use sub contractors to run those routes. I have never gotten my delivery at MY house, or within 2 days of the scheduled delivery thru FedEx. <rant off>

im pretty thankfull that ive always worked places that have no problems having employees get personal stuff shipped there.

I honestly wouldn't trust the trolls at the guards desk down there with much of anything..=)
