Hi guys, I'm heading down to play at a conference in Austin Texas this week(wed-sun) and was just wondering if anybody had tips for good haunts to go see while I'm there?
Thanks.

Well, I've never been to Austin, but I recommend finding a dealer through this web site and purchasing some EBMM guitars while you're there.

See if you can catch Eric Johnson performing somewhere.. doesn't he live in that neck of the woods?

Drive due north to Jollyville, Texas (consult a map)!

Every night before turning in, say "Good night Austin, Texas.. wherever you are!"

sixth st. is the place for alot of happenings. I think it's sixth
my son-in-law lives there. and I might add my daughter.
catch his band if you can. if he is not on the road he should be playing around locally.
his website www.stevesouth.com

Hey Pete. I know you've already headed to Austin, but if you do check in, let me know. I wouldn't mind making a trip down Saturday so maybe we could get together.

Austin will always feel like a second home to me in my heart of hearts.

Go to Freebird's and have a burrito. This ain't no frozen flour-encrusted morsel, it's a meal in itself and absolutely delicious! You might also check out Bass Emporium while you're there. Last time I was in, they had several nice basses including Elrick, Sadowsky, Modulus, and I think a Stingray or two. Sixth street should be seen at least once, I suppose. Oh yes, for some killer Tex-Mex food and atmosphere, go to any of the three Chuy's restaurants according to where you are in Austin. Since you're going to a conference you'll likely be staying in a hotel close to I-35...so the Barton Springs Road location will probably be closest (also the best, IMO).

There's a Freebird's at Greenville and Lovers right off of 75, my friend. Get thee there with haste and enjoy burrito heaven.

OK, OK - it looks like no one did. :(
Sir Dennis Eaton Hogg (I think was his name), manager of Spinal Tap during the "Stonehenge" conflict said that he spent his time "hunting down mandolin strings in Austin".....
(I got a kick out of it because wouldn't mandolin strings be pretty easy to find in Austin?)
I'm not the only Tapper here am I???
