OT: Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium

Off topic:

From the 22th till the 24th of June, there's a big metal festival in Dessel, Belgium (where I live...). It's about 300 metres from my house. About 100.000 people are expected to visit the festival, which is believed to be the biggest metal festival in Europe.

It's a lot of fun watching all these metalheads, goths and strange people walk by my house!!

But there's also a lot of good bands playing the festival. We get free VIP-tickets to the festival, so I'm definitely gonna check some bands out. Dream Theater played the festival a few times (last time was 2 years ago, but I didn't get to see them then...)

I'm gonna be checking out: Joe Satriani!!, Aerosmith, Chris Cornell, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Me first & the gimme gimmes,...

Any other bands I should be checking out??? Maybe a forum member coming to the festival??

I went to Graspop in 2005 (?) when Dream Theater played there.

I would love to see Joe Satriani, but I'm not willing to spend €70 only to see Satch. I don't really know/like the other bands on that same day.

But in October I'm going to see Dream Theater (with Symphony X as support act!), so that's gonna be awesome !


Can you get backstage with those VIP-tickets ?

I've got tickets for the show in Antwerp aswell. Seen 'm in Vorst Nationaal about two years ago. It was a great show!

You can get backstage, but only in certain areas, not in the artist area... Too bad...

I was at the concert in Vorst too.
When they played the song octavarium, during the part at the beginning where Petrucci plays single notes on the 12 string, suddenly the crowd was sooo quiet (if I remember well). Pretty cool moment.
