I love this game. But it's nothing like playing guitar in terms of where they put the buttons. Having 5 note apreggios on one "string" just doesn't work. Maybe they should have 2 rows of 3 buttons or something. Anyway, it's still brilliant. If you have an Xbox 360, my tag is I Ali I (capital i, space,Ali, space, capital i) t ocompare scores on songs.

I haven't played it yet but it looks like fun. I find it funny that some guitarists don't like the game...............it is what it is, a game.

lol why cant I play songs in that game..but I can play them on a real guitar. I think its fun for about 5-10 mins then you just realize you should be practicing on a real guitar.

Agreed. I find myself wanting to figure out the patterns to justify to myself that I am a guitarist, but then I think "I could be busy bettering my real playing, I'm not practicing my Virtual rule-itude."

Oh and by the way, I hate Freebird.

I love this game. I'm probably a mediocre to average guitar player, and the concept of the game threw me off. But once I started, I couldn't stop.

While it doesn't help you learn to play an acutal guitar, I think it does help you pay attention to timing. On good days, it makes me want to pick my guitar up again.

I've never played the game, but the concept sounds great.

If you can encourage the average playstation geek to even pay attention to guitar based music and maybe seek out some of the tracks on the game then it can only be a good thing.

If it encourages some to pick up the real thing all the better

That video on You Tube of some guy playing YYZ on Guitar Hero is really good :)

I love the game. We have both GP I and II. My 16 year old son is very good. He also plays a little bass. I remember going into Wal-Mart and seeing the XBOX version with the white explorer controller. I sucked bigtime. It was embarrassing because of all the kids who are pretty good, standing watching me.

I got better though and usually play on Medium; which really isn't anything to brag about, but it's fun...

The thing is you have to remember that it's a game controller and not a guitar. There are some easy songs that I play on guitar but really suck at with the game. But, again, it's all fun. I'd love to have an Axis or Silhouette controller because my tremolo keeps going out of tune...

The most important thing to remember when playing GH is that it as a GAME. Basically dumb down your guitar skills and approach the guitar controller as a funky controller with a trigger and 5 buttons that you have to hit in sync with the colored buttons that go whizzing by on the screen.

If you keep it simple and approach it in this way, you will do much better! Basically throw out everything you know about playing a real guitar or how any of the songs are played on a real guitar...

I think that the game definitely does give you the feeling of being "on" with a band when you finally get the song and you're playing right along with it. It also gives you the feeling of "sucking badly" if you're not right on with the game's song.

Funny thing though: my husbands work buddies, US Marines, have the game in their barracks and play it 24/7, constantly. Apparently, one of the guys plays it on Expert and kicks butt every time. I said to hubby "why don't they just pick up a guitar and play it? if they're that good at the game, they probably could be pretty good at a real guitar". He told the guys about it and they balked "thats stupid. its just a game".

I SUCK at that game. I'd probably have an easier time trying to play a tuba alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic than playing "Woman" on Expert level :D
