Good golly miss molly..... just picked up the John Mayer Trio CD "Try!" ......... there's gotta be a good few months worth of learning/stealing Pino's riffs.
what an amazing player, and even for non-Mayer fans I urge you to buy the CD, you won't be disappointed.

I concur. This album is great and I'm a fan. It sounds really good for a live album although I would love to hear some studio stuff.

I saw them on two different TV shows around Thanksgiving. They played the same song. Man, it was so funky, it sounded great. I heard a touch of Hendrix in Mayer's style too. Pino sounded great. Looked like he was playing through a couple of Epifani cabs and Ashdown amps.

I bought that disc last week when it came out and it has some really nice playing on it. Pino is one of my bass heros and he has such a great sound. I won't lie, he made me want to try out Ashdown amps. John is no slouch on the guitar either.

ya, they do a cover of "wait until tomorrow" on the disc.
yup, old style Epifani 2x12"s and I think an EVO 900 head (and a P-Bass that sounds quite possibly strung with flats....)

I saw the atlanta JMT show, amazing. I liked it better than the U2 show.
It was a musicians kind of show. Pino was lost in the mix because of the room
but still great.

Pino owns a bongo, a black 4 HH. He used it a bit when he played with THE WHO a couple years back.

Then why get covered up when you are that kind of a player with a P bass?

Don't make sense to me and I am not even that kind of player.

The Tabernacle is not the best room to hear a good mix, very live. I think it was a combination of that room and the sound tech.
I've heard pbasses sound great in other venues.

I saw Whitesnake a couple of months ago there, the show was great but
a wall of noise. I didn't wear earplugs that night and they were ringing like
they did back when I saw Zeppelin for the first time.
