Hi everybody!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here on these boards. I've been lurking around here a lot, but never taken the time to register. I hang around TalkBass more.

Don't own any EB/MM basses yet, but I'm planning on getting a Bongo 5 HH at the end of summer.

I like the fact that Sterling Ball posts here regularly, it shows that he really cares for his customers, and his company!

I hope to have many great discussions here.

BTW, what color combination should I get for the Bongo? I like to be seen on stage, so the more flashy the color, the better!

Welcome............you'll find alot of great imformation on EB Basses. Alot of Bongos. If 5 string is your cup of tea you've pick a winner. There is also a 6 string Bongo in production as we speak.

Sterling Ball is the best. Just a regular kind of guy I'll noticed. He loves his Basses and he loves his customers, and he loves people. What a combination.........

There's a ton colors to chose from. Check the color chart in Music Man Basses Forum. It's a Sticky..........:)

If you want flashy, order a BLUE DAWN!!

PS - Welcome to the forum! :)

Yeah, I know, that would rock so much.

I just saw there is a Blue Daen Bonog HH 5 for sale at BassCentral. However, I think it might be a bit out of my range right now, and they don't ship new EB/MM guitars internationally, as it violates the agreement with the Swedish dealer.:(

Oh well, I've been planning a trip to the states for ages, so why not this summer...?:D

Well, there still the rest of the year left...:p

I might just order one from the factory, who knows. You can't get much flashier than Blue Dawn.

On a side note, I really like how the Bongo 5 sounds on DT's new album. It seems Myung finally came to his senses. He sits nicely in the mix now.

Wrong, my friend, you don't have until the rest of the year, only until the production backs up to 08 - That means, orders will only be taken until July / August.

Sorry! :)

Well, then I have three choices.

1. Put a downpayment on one in late July/early August.
2. Hope for a used one to pop up here or on TalkBass (sooner)
3. Hope for a used one to pop up here or on TalkBass (later;) )

welcome...can you really turn your head 360?

No, but my basses have turned some heads.

If you want to know the story behind the name, it's pretty simple. A friend of my brother thought I looked like an owl. He started calling me that, and it caught on pretty quick everywhere else. So for almost eight years, my usernames have included "owl" in some form.

Oh, and I just noticed that the Blue Dawn Bongo 5 HH at BassCentral also has piezos, which I don't really need. It gives me a good idea of how scrumptious a Bongo in Blue Dawn would look. I thought there was something wrong with the fact that a HH model would cost 400 dollars more than an H version.

Ouch!

So I just got off the phone with the Swedish dealer. Ordering a Blue Dawn Bongo 5 HH would cost me 30 000 swedish crowns, the equivalent of 4350 dollars!!!

An absolute outrage!!!

so I guess I'll wait for a use one to show up, sooner or later.

Yeah, I'm pretty used to EB/MM being expensive in Europe, but this is just too much. It's about double what you have to pay for one at BassCentral in Florida.

In spite of the fact that the dollar is cheaper than it's been for 5 years, the prices just keep increasing. That just doesn't make sense. When 11 crowns equaled 1 dollar, sure, but now 1 dollars is 6,8 crowns. It's just plain BS if you ask me.

I'm not bashing EB/MM, not at all, but the climate in the instrument business here in Sweden. A Mexican Fender is ridiculuosly overpriced as well, about just anything is when it comes to instruments. With exceptions being local European brands like Sandberg, Clover, and Jerzy Drozd. And if you want a little more unique bass than a Fender, you'd better look at importing, because there is practically no cool brands to choose from either.

It looks like it will be a Sandberg JM 5-string in crackled gold finish instead, but that's not so bad either.:)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you could buy a used EBMM from Bass Central or any other dealer who stocks used instruments.
