I've heard numerous things both good and bad about using 2 different speakers in a cab... So I wanted to ask you guys before I end up eBaying speakers... I'm thinking of getting a cabinet loaded with one Celestion G-12M (Greenback) and one Celestion Vintage 30. Or should I stick with the tried and true 2 Celestion Vintage 30s?

It depends what you're playing and playing through. I have a 2x12 with a CL80 and a V30 that sounds great. The V30 cuts through the mix in the band and each speaker brings it's own thing.

It would probably pair up well with the GB, which is a bit mellower.

both great speakers ,I've used celestion for 20 years,I just got turned on to eminence, the wizard is a twin of the vin.30's and has more power handeling~more sensitivity and is cheaper!I like it better than the vin.30 to my ears!Check out Avatar Speakers he sells all the main types unbeatable prices! My favorite local guitar shop is a dealer and he even says his prices are lower then buying from the distributors?I like eminence because they give LOTS of sonic reviews on the speakers what they are designed for and they even have sound bites of the speakers,Try em' out I think you'll like em!
good luck

The Wizard is voiced closer to a Cel. G12-H30, and to my ears sounds nothing at all like a V30, which is voiced in the midrange with a spike on top.

Also, be aware that, the power rating of two different speakers is equal to twice the lowest rated speaker. So a 60 watt V30 + a 25 watt Greenback = 50 watts - barely enough to handle a 50 watt head.

I agree about Dave at Avatar. Great guy and very good prices.

Em's V12 is a nice speaker. Voiced after the Cel V30, but a bit less spikey on top. And btw, I don't mean spikey is necessarily a bad thing; it does help cut through the mix. A nice thing about V12's and V30's is, they're easy to mic and record, mostly due to the focus in the mids... no big bottom end to contend with.
