Right - as you all know, they're chucking me out of a plane on Saturday, provided the weather holds.

And since I know the rules here there are hopefully going to be both pics and a video of the event. Now, what I need your help with is the song to have as the soundtrack on the video :) It needs to be appropriate, and since you guys have more than a mildly amusing collective sense of humour, I though I'd post here for some inspiration. ;)

And yes, before you ask, I AM nervous :p

Obvious ones:

Jump - Van Halen
Free Falling/Learning to Fly - Tom Petty
Little Less Conversation - Elvis vs that bloke
Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve (intro, then cross-fade to something)
Lose Yourself - Emineminem (intro again, although you can get an instrumental version)

Moody Scene Setting:

Marooned - Pink Floyd (as you float serenely downwards)

When the 'chute fails: :D

Goodbye Cruel World - Pink Floyd
History - The Verve
Wipeout - (whoever did it)

When it doesn't go wrong:

Gimme Some Loving - Spencer Davis (so glad you made it etc)
Lucky Man - The Verve (again. There's a theme isn't there?)

In all seriousness, Good Luck, it will be fine.

Just remember, theres a 100% success rate with these things. They've never left anyone up there :D

Fly to the Angels - Slaughter

On second thought...

Better go with Free Falling - Tom Petty like Jimmyb suggested.

Good luck with the jump.

I have a friend who has made over 450 jumps (he's sick in the head!). THe first time he went, and the first and only time I went a few years later, the music choice was "The Final Countdown". The song is a little bit cheesy, but it's a perfect mood.

Can't wait to hear the story after you jump! (My instrutor, a former Navy SEAL, said "OK we're going to count to three and then jump" and then he threw us out of the plane on two! Probably a good choice as I would have tried to stop him if he made it all the way to three. It was a great experience, though.)

"Flying High Again" - Ozzy (esp. the lyric "Oh no! Here we go now..")

"Die With Your Boots On" or "Aces High" or "Flight of Icarus" - Iron Maiden ;)

"Very Superstitious" - Stevie Wonder

"The Angel Song" - Great White

"Billy the Mountain" - Frank Zappa (lyric: "a mountain is something you don't wanna f*#% with..") :D

..or if you want to make the video very surreal..

Hi Azzy,
My brother used "Dreams" by Van Halen which worked pretty well ("we'll get higher and higher..."). For my jump they used Seal's "Crazy" which I didn't like at first, but then it grew on me. It's great that it's being video taped because if you do anymore jumping, it won't compare to that first time!! Enjoy the sights, sounds, smells, feelings, because your body has never experienced them before.

Hey Azzy...speaking from WAY too much experience hurling myself out of airplanes and what not....I always listened to (jokes were made by the fellas..LOL) a compilation of classical pieces. Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi and what not. I believed that this was the closest I would ever get to heaven! LOL....

The other suggestions posted are good too.

We should have started the forum soundtrack for Azzy's jump. We could have wrote an appropriate song or two during the time.

My choice would be. "Here comes the Sun".

All this flying/floating/falling stuff is too literal for me. Skydiving is a sheer, pure adrenaline rush. Referential lyrics and titles don't really capture it for me...you gotta grab the energy of the experience!

Something with a really powerful, crunchy guitar break is where it's at IMHO:

Blur - Song 2
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life
