So I had my cabs, but just had not found the tone I loved from any of the heads I tried...until now. Last week I recieved my new Ashdown ABM 500 EVOII and I'm just in love with the way it sounds with my Bergantino stack. It has all the vintage vibe you could want, with plenty of power and a cool tube/solidstate blendable pre. I thought I'd just share a few pics.

Cool rig, Andrew! I love Ashdown's bass line, and my MAG300R works extemely well with my SWR Henry 8x8! The only thing I may add to my rig at this point is a rack-mount NYC Bass Driver for extra coloring.

Yes-these are the new model S 210 112 cabs! They freak'n rule. Super punchy and they are very easy to carry as they are only 11 1/2 inches thick. Jim is making some of the best cabs out there, and I'm lucky enough to own a couple. I'd like to pick up a 2x15" to use for more rock'n stuff.

If it didn't weigh 93 pounds, I would definitely be looking at a NV215 myself. My HT310 is already bigger than I am!

wow - very cool...!

it's very hard to get those berg cabs down here - enjoy living in the country of cheap and plentiful bass gear...

Congrats Andrew! That rig is very nice.

Just curious. How does the Ashdown compare to some other amps you tried?
I should probably start off by saying for the most part I play Jazz, Blues, Funk, R&B and some Rock. I like a nice warm tone. A mix of Pino Palladino, Bruce Thomas/Davey Faragher of Elvis Costello fame, Sir Paul McCartney, Tony Levin with a twist of Louis Johnson and a pinch of John Entwhistle.

I owned an Ampeg 4 pro but sold it because it was too traditional sounding. I played through Eden, Mesa, Aguilar, SWR, Orange, EBS. All good and probably great for many players but just not for me.

I had heard good things about Ashdown and thought they might be a good option, so I had planned on ordering the head and if I didn't like it I could return it. Well I went to a local boutique guitar store and they had just gotten in a whole bunch of Ashdown gear(they sell EBS and Aguilar too) so I figured, this is just too pefect. I spent an hour or so a/b ing all the amps and the I loved the Ashdown's sound as soon as I plugged in my bongo-Flat with no eq. The more I played with the knobs the more I enjoyed the sound. I was knocked out! I tried to whipe the slate clean so I could try the Aguilar stuff without any bias but the whole time I played around with the Aggie I was thinking about that Ashdown sound. I went home and thought about it and then ordered myself the Ashdown a couple days later.

It sounds so great with the Bergantino cabs and really is a LOUD head. As an added bonus it looks cool.

Sorry for such a long answer, but that's why I chose the Ashdown. It was just the right head for ME.

Thanks Andrew. I'm convinced that your rig sounds fantastic. So much so, you're giving me G.A.S. You know, it works with amps too. Maybe in this case it should be called A.A.S. (amp accumulation syndrome). :D

Not to hijack or anything like that but my firebass is on the way. Looks like we are each getting what we want to play. What a wonderful world it it can be. If you aren't in the army.
